Usman Garba
Dr. Usman Garba is an academic in chemical engineering, with over two decades of experience in research, teaching, industry collaboration, and, community service. He had his first two degrees in chemical engineering from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria (BEng, 2000; MSc, 2015). He obtained a postgraduate diploma in education from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Nigeria (2010). He earned his PhD from the University of Toulouse, France (2023), specializing in separation processes and energy transfer. Dr. Usman has contributed to advancements in sustainable energy, process optimization, and environmental sustainability via his authorship of several peer-reviewed papers and attendance at many national and international conferences and workshops.
Currently, a senior lecturer at the mechanical engineering department, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Nigeria, Dr. Usman belongs to research groups focusing on process intensification, renewable energy processes, and the development of green technologies. His teaching and research work has earned him numerous awards, including the Murdock Thomson Teachers’ Award for Innovative Teaching and Merit Awards from the Nigerian National Mathematics Center. He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Nigerian Institution of Professional Engineers and Scientists (NIPES), Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, (NSChE), and the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN).
Beyond his academic contributions, Dr. Usman is passionate about volunteer work and community service. He is a mentor, youth counselor and, a career guide who guides both undergraduate and graduate students through research projects and career development.
Dr. Usman is a sports enthusiast with a bias for table tennis and soccer. He is happily married and blessed with children.
