Today, we remain uniquely positioned to address key challenges confronting an increasingly interconnected and complex world. Applying MIT Research & Rigor to Key Global Issues

When you support the Center, you help fuel groundbreaking research and foster a vibrant community of faculty, students, and visiting scholars dedicated to producing a global impact. Our research and outreach initiatives equip international scholars and decision-makers with valuable knowledge and insights into complex international issues and the policies designed to address them. We explore how policies — enacted in the U.S. and abroad — can most effectively harness science and technology to enhance human security, prosperity, and dignity.  

A Hub for Global Collaboration & Innovation

At CIS, we host events, workshops, and seminars designed to share knowledge, build connections, and foster dialogue between visiting scholars, leaders, faculty, students, and the broader community. Our fellowships attract top academics and researchers from every corner of the world to the MIT campus. These thought leaders collaborate with the CIS community, enriching our research and initiatives with fresh perspectives and ideas. 

In addition to providing fellowships and grants that support the work of visiting scholars, doctoral students, and faculty, we facilitate engagement and collaboration between MIT faculty and colleagues abroad through Global Seed Funds. And, our country and area programs act as vital hubs of activity and expertise that connect the Institute to critical socioeconomic, political, and policy developments and research happening around the world.

By providing opportunities for MIT students to engage in enriching global experiences, we help shape the next generation of global citizens and leaders.  While taking part in international internships, research and teaching, MIT students are empowered to explore the world and form deep connections with different cultures, ideas, and ways of thinking.
