Suzy Claeys

Prior to joining SSP, Suzy was a Nuclear Deterrence Advisor for Nuclear Deterrence Policy in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy at the Department of Defense (DoD). In this position she oversaw the office’s response to Congressional requirements, supported senior DoD officials’ Congressional testimony, and managed the U.S.-Republic of Korea extended deterrence portfolio. She was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service for her time at DoD. She was previously an Associate Director and Associate Fellow with the Project on Nuclear Issues at the Center for Strategic and International Studies where she organized the European Trilateral Track 2 Nuclear Dialogues and conducted research on the future of arms control. She holds a M.A. in Security Policy Studies from George Washington University and a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from American University.
Suzy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience working in the nuclear field – and already had the pleasure of working with Vipin when he served as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy.
