Nilsu Celikel

Nilsu Celikel is a PhD student in the MIT Department of Political Science and affiliated with the Center's Security Studies Program. She specializes in comparative politics and security studies. Her research interests include political violence, ethnic conflict, and civil-military relations, with a regional focus in the Middle East. Nilsu holds an MPhil in Politics with Merit from the University of Oxford and a BA in Political Science and History with Distinction from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining MIT, Nilsu worked as an intelligence analyst and led investigations on war-crimes and human rights violations for United Nations, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch.
