Feyaad Allie

Feyaad Allie is an assistant professor in the Department of Government at Harvard University. He studies comparative politics and political behavior with an emphasis on democratic representation, social identity, and intergroup relations. He has a regional interest in South Asia, primarily India. Feyaad is currently working on a book project that examines how minority political power shapes identity and electoral politics. In other research, he focuses on majority-minority tensions and the mobilization capacity of civil society. Across these projects, his work highlights the challenges and possibilities of building inclusive democracies. His research is mixed-methods in nature, drawing on administrative data, original surveys, and in-depth interviews with elites and voters during fieldwork. Feyaad has received several awards for his research, including the Gabriel A Almond Award (2024) for the best dissertation in comparative politics, the Juan Linz Prize (2024) for the best dissertation in the comparative study of democracy, and the Sage Best Paper Award (2023) from the American Political Science Association (APSA) Comparative Politics section. Feyaad received his PhD in political science from Stanford University and a BA in government from Dartmouth College.
