Conor Kelly

Prior to Oxford, Kelly worked at the University College Data Constitution Unit between 2019 and 2024 as a research assistant and project manager. His first project at the Constitution Unit was with the Working Group on Unification Referendums on the Island of Ireland. This was followed by a second project entitled Perspectives on the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland, and a third entitled Reform of Stormont: Options for Discussion. He remains an Honorary Research Associate at the Constitution Unit.

Between 2022 and 2024, he taught on UCL’s undergraduate British politics and politics of the European Union modules. In the 2023–2024 academic year, he also worked as a guest teacher at The London School of Economics and Political Science on their British government module. At the Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford and Balliol College, he teaches the undergraduate papers introduction to the practice of politics, British politics and government since 1900, modern British government and politics, and comparative government.

Kelly has a PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London. He also has a BA from the University of Galway (National University of Ireland), an MA from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and an MRes from Birkbeck College, University of London.

His first book Explaining Northern Ireland Party Stances on the EU: Dividing Lines Before and After Brexit was published by Routledge in June.
