Where We Stand: Black Feminist Thought Across the Americas

As part of Women’s History Month, MIT Women’s and Gender Studies and the MIT-Brazil and Latin America groups at MIT CIS will host Brazilian philosopher and writer Djamila Ribeiro for a conversation about her book Where We Stand.

In dialogue with MIT scholar Paloma Duong, the event will explore Black feminist thought across the Americas, connecting Brazil, the Caribbean, and broader global debates on race, gender, and voice. The conversation will highlight Ribeiro’s concept of lugar de fala (“standpoint”) and its relevance to contemporary struggles for equality across the continent.

A book signing will follow the discussion.
