SHASS Infinite Mile Award recipients in CIS

SHASS Infinite Mile Award recipients in CIS
April 29, 2020

CIS is pleased to share the exciting news that two recipients of the 2020 SHASS Infinite Mile Awards are CIS colleagues.  Award recipients are recognized for making exceptional contributions to their academic units, the School, and the Institute.

Alicia Raun, MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI) Assistant Director and MIT-Portugal and Spain Managing Director, is a recipient of the Great Ideas award.  This award is in recognition of her many contributions to the MISTI program and the direct impact she has had on MIT students and faculty.  For example, Alicia has increased learning opportunities for students through the Global Teaching Labs program in Spain, enabled partnerships for faculty through the Global Seed Funds program in Spain, and developed new MISTI initiatives in Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Fatih Basaga, CIS Systems Administrator, is a recipient of the Unsung Hero award.  This award is in recognition of his numerous and varied contributions across CIS.  As the inhouse IT professional, Fatih is often called upon to help  with the technical challenges of the workplace.  His contributions go far beyond the job description - Fatih is always willing to help faculty, staff, students and visitors.  He is often working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smooth and help in any way he can.

Congratulations Alicia and Fatih—and thank you for your contributions to CIS and beyond!

Due to the current circumstances, SHASS has had to cancel the annual Infinite Mile Award luncheon. Additional details will be shared when available regarding celebrating the 2020 Infinite Mile Awards recipients.
